MoveOn Call Parties

Dear MoveOn member,

Together, we did it! MoveOn members beat our original goal of calling 125,000 Texas voters this Sunday—instead making 400,000 calls at nearly 1,800 "Yes We Can" Obama parties across the nation.

Today's Austin American-Statesman called it "a big boost" for Obama, while the Dallas Morning News called it "a virtual blitzkrieg effort to rally Obama supporters to the polls and caucuses."1

We heard lots of inspiring stories about the call parties, such as this one from Dorothy S. in Lakeway, Texas: "I talked to Obama supporters who didn't know anything about the caucus. I felt good telling them about it and getting their commitment to go." More stories are below.

Texas votes tomorrow. If you'd like to continue making calls for Obama in these final hours, you can do it from your home computer through the Obama campaign website. Click here:

Our original goal was to call all 125,000 Texas MoveOn members, letting them know they are allowed to vote twice for Obama tomorrow—once in the primary, and then again at a local caucus. Since so many people signed up, we were able to call hundreds of thousands more voters! Here are a few reports we received from around the nation:

The best part was talking to someone who had already voted early in the primary and didn't know about the caucus option who was excited about the opportunity.—Katie D., Oregon

Everyone was on the phone in every corner of the house and my four-year-old son was walking around offering everyone food.—Deirdre G., California

Six people made 220 phone calls. One person was 87 years old.—Katharine C., Maine

I called a woman and she told me she was voting for Clinton and I convinced her that Obama was a better choice. —Kate J., Mississippi

My best moment was a conversation I had with a woman in Dallas who had voted early but who knew nothing about the upcoming caucus. We talked for about 5 minutes, both about the caucus details and about our shared enthusiasm for Obama. She signed off telling me she was going to spread the caucus word to all her friends.—Robert M., California

In a national conference call at the start of the call parties, Sen. Edward Kennedy said, "I salute MoveOn for endorsing Barack Obama and being such a big part of the Democratic primary process."

We are making a difference. Thanks for all you do.
